The Jesus Way – Losing Our Life for Jesus: Division, Fire, and the Narrow Road In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. --- Section I: Whoever Loses His Life Will Find It “Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.†– Matthew 10:39 To walk the Jesus Way is to lose everything that the world calls ‘life’—comfort, popularity, worldly approval—and to gain eternity. This loss is not a tragedy. It is a sacred exchange. It is martyrdom of ego. It is the Cross. “You are not your own; you were bought at a price.†– 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 --- Section II: The Fire of Division “Do you think I came to bring peace to the earth? No, but division.†– Luke 12:51 Jesus did not come to offer compromise. He came to ignite love so pure that it sets brother against brother when one refuses truth. - Family may abandon you. - Friends may turn cold. - Even fellow Catholics may attack your zeal. But if you remain faithful, He will call you “friend,†“child,†“saint.†The fire He brings is not destruction—it is purification. --- Section III: Leaving All for His Name “Everyone who has left houses, or brothers or sisters or father or mother… for My name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold.†– Matthew 19:29 Sometimes, to follow Jesus means leaving behind: - Traditions that are no longer holy. - Relationships that resist conversion. - Careers or plans not rooted in Christ. This is the agony of the saints. It is also their joy. “Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you… Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven.†– Matthew 5:11–12 --- Section IV: The Narrow Road “Enter through the narrow gate… the road that leads to life is hard, and few find it.†– Matthew 7:13–14 The Jesus Way is narrow because: - It requires humility. - It demands truth. - It crucifies pride. Yet it is filled with peace, not as the world gives (cf. John 14:27), but as Heaven alone can offer. --- Section V: His Gaze and His Promise When Jesus looked at the rich young man, He loved him—but the man walked away. When Jesus looked at Peter, He saw betrayal—but loved him anyway. When Jesus looks at you, He sees the fire He placed in your heart—and says: “Follow Me.†“I am with you always, even to the end of the age.†– Matthew 28:20 --- Final Prayer Jesus, I lose my life for You. Let me die to comfort, approval, and ease. Let Your fire divide me from false peace, and unite me to Your Cross. Though the road is narrow, let me walk it behind You. Mary, my Mother, lead me when I am weary. Holy Spirit, burn in me what is not of God. Amen.
