The Mass – The Greatest Healing
The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is the most powerful act of healing on earth. Every grace, miracle, and healing – whether of the soul or the body – flows from the altar of Christ’s sacrifice. While special events and retreats can inspire, nothing can replace the healing Christ offers in every single Mass.
1. Healing at the Root – The Forgiveness of Sins
Isaiah 53:5 says, ‘By His wounds we are healed.’ The deepest wound of humanity is sin, which separates us from God. At Mass, Christ’s sacrifice is made present, offering the forgiveness of sins and restoring our union with God. This healing is eternal – it reaches deeper than physical cures.
2. The Mass Contains the Infinite Merits of Calvary
The Mass is Calvary renewed sacramentally. The same Jesus who died and rose is present on the altar. Every drop of His Precious Blood, every act of love from the Cross, is offered again for our healing and sanctification.
3. Eucharistic Healing for Soul and Body
In Holy Communion, the Divine Physician enters our soul. He strengthens virtues, heals wounds of the heart, and can, if it serves our salvation, heal the body. But the primary healing is spiritual – conforming us to Himself.
4. The Mass Surpasses All Healing Events
Healing retreats and prayer services can bear fruit, but they must never replace or overshadow the Mass. Jesus can heal in Adoration and at special gatherings, but the Mass is the source and summit of all grace. Without the Mass, no other healing ministry would exist.
5. Dispositions for Receiving Healing at Mass
1. Approach in the state of grace (Confession if needed).
2. Offer the Mass for your healing or the healing of others.
3. Receive Holy Communion with faith and reverence.
4. Remain in thanksgiving after Communion, allowing Jesus to work.
5. Trust in His will – whether the healing is physical, emotional, or purely spiritual.
Conclusion
The Mass is the greatest healing because it unites us to Christ’s perfect sacrifice, restores us to grace, and gives us the Bread of Life. If we understood this fully, we would seek healing first and foremost at the altar, where Heaven touches earth and the Divine Physician works in silence.
