**What is Salvation?**

Salvation is the **eternal deliverance of the soul from sin and death**, and its entry into the life of God—Heaven. It is a gift offered by God through Jesus Christ, who alone is the Redeemer of mankind. Salvation requires **faith, grace, repentance, and sanctifying union with God**. According to Christ’s own words and the consistent teaching of the Church, salvation is ordinarily received through **Baptism and incorporation into the Roman Catholic Church**, which is the Mystical Body of Christ and the dispenser of all the means of grace (sacraments, truth, and authority).

Salvation is not merely being “good” or “sincere,” but **entering into the life of God through His Church**, responding to grace, and dying in a state of sanctifying grace.
